You gotta vote for Grafton Dog Mayor, and I… need to apologize

There’s a small cloud hanging over the race for Grafton dog mayor, and her name is Ruby,

The 5-month-old Great Dane with a playful disposition and giant paws that foreshadow a very large future, is the forgotten puppy, she who could have brought the race to an even 30 dogs,

It’s my fault. It’s all my fault.

When owner Chelsea Kozaczka emailed me Wednesday looking for Ruby in the giant poll, I remembered the pictures. Of course I included Ruby! I moved that email right into the…

Wrong folder. Ruby was stuck in along with the 4th of July Parade material, all right, but she didn’t quite make it into the MAYOR folder.

We here at Grafton Common (I’m using “we” to make it sound like there’s a staff, but it’s just Jenn) profusely apologize to Chelsea and the Kozaczka family, and especially to Ruby, who deserves belly rubs and treats.

Here’s Chelsea’s nomination statement: “Ruby, a spunky 5 month old mantle Great Dane puppy, would love the opportunity to be Grafton’s dog mayor!  She might be young but she is up for the challenge.  She is growing fast so photos seem outdated quickly.  A gentle giant, she loves all dogs and people she meets.  If they bring her treats – she is your best friend.  She is skilled at bringing things in the house that scare mom – snakes and frogs!  She enjoys playing with her 3 boy “human puppies,” ringing her bell to go out 5,000 times a day and running through her electric fence to visit neighborhood furry friends.  Thanks for your consideration!”

In any case, remember that the poll will shut down Saturday at 1 p.m., there is no limit on voting (the widget design claimed it was one vote only, but it lied), and the top three finalists will go before the judges before the 4th of July parade! VOTE HERE

And here’s hoping a fully grown Ruby makes a comeback in 2023.
