Photo Gallery: Life’s a beach at Silver Lake

The sign on the dock at Silver Lake Beach specifically prohibits diving.

On the subject of cannon balls, it remains silent.

Splash!

Splash!

Splash!

On a bright sunny and hot Tuesday, the parking lot at Silver Lake Beach was packed for a good portion of the day as children ran headlong into the water (splash!), grabbed their boogie boards (splash!) or built sandcastles (plop!) along the shoreline.

Silver Lake is now completely open to both Grafton residents and out-of-town visitors.

Day passes for residents are $12/car, $5/individuals and $3 for seniors. Proof of residency such as a license, vehicle registration or utility bill must be shown. For non-residents, it’s $18 /car, $7/person, or $5/seniors.

The beach operates daily, weather-permitting, through August 15 and is open Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Wednesdays 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Hours may be changed based on staff availability and programming.

Amenities available include a lifeguarded bathing beach, picnic tables, charcoal grills, restroom, outdoor shower/footwash, dock platform, concession stand, and kayak rentals.

Swim lessons, the deep water raft, birthday parties and pavilion rentals are not available this summer.

Outside of the hours of operation or when the beach is closed, swimming is not allowed and facilities will be closed. Parking is always prohibited along Rt. 140.
