Deck the halls with the Grafton Bandstand, fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

Gazebo fans, avert your eyes.

The Grafton Historical Society is once again selling holiday ornaments of Grafton Common’s iconic structure, and they’ve boldly labeled it: “Grafton Common Bandstand.”

Here’s how to get yours — Call 508-839-0000, email graftonmahistory@gmail.com, or send a text to 508-320-1173 to order an ornament, which are $15 apiece. Pick-up during museum hours, Tuesday and Sunday, 2-4 p.m., or arrange for an alternate day.

During Grafton Celebrates the Holidays on Sunday, children can enjoy story time and crafts at the Historical Society at 71 Main Street (pre-register using the contact information above) from noon-1:30 p.m., while everyone can enjoy tea and pastries (gluten-free available) from 2-4 p.m.

This December, invite your Grafton buddies over for eggnog, show off your ornament, and enjoy the unique festiveness of debating whether this movie prop, left behind by the crew of “Ah… Wilderness!” after filming the 1935 movie on Grafton Common.

Some may boycott the ornament out of Gazebo loyalty, but we suggest a quick fix. Given that the bandsta-zebo will be undergoing renovations as part of the Grafton Common rehab, perhaps a piece of masking tape marked “gazebo,” placed over the word “bandstand” might be appropriate?
