Burschaper tapped as Community Harvest Project’s new executive director

Vittoria (Tori) Burschaper is the new executive director for the Community Harvest Project, a non-profit that provides fresh fruits and vegetables to Massachusetts communities.

Buerschaper joined CHP in 2013 and has held various roles with the organization. She most recently was named interim executive director in October 2020. In this role, Buerschaper spearheaded the organization’s three-year strategic plan. She will continue to drive CHP’s vision to connect communities and provide them with access to healthy foods.

“Tori is uniquely qualified to guide us as we educate community members about food insecurity and work with them to resolve this issue,” said David Guarino, chair of CHP’s board of directors.

Feeding America reports more than 42 million people (one in eight) may experience food insecurity in 2021. More than 42,000 people living in Worcester County deal with food insecurity, representing more than 10 percent of all Massachusetts households, according to the most recent data.

In 2020, CHP grew, harvested, and donated 274,786 lbs. of produce for 413,053 food-insecure individuals. CHP also received Point of Light Service Enterprise certification, which validates its ability to strategically leverage volunteers to drive operational efficiency and maximize its social impact.

“We will continue to engage and educate our wonderful volunteers to grow fruits and vegetables so as to provide hunger relief in our community,” Buerschaper said.
