No school Tuesday as snowstorm threatens Grafton area

The threat of a snowstorm that could drop a foot of snow on the Grafton area has Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings calling for an early release day on Monday and a traditional snow day Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, with wind gusts as high as 38 mph. The snow is not expected to let up until 1 p.m. Tuesday.

“While I am trying to provide parents and guardians as much time to plan as possible, there is an increased chance of the forecast/timing to be changed with the early notice,” Cummings wrote in an email. “If there are any changes to the plan for Monday, I will reach out.”

The traditional snow day Tuesday also cancels school for students scheduled to be remote learning at home.
