Friday’s Grafton football game will give aid to Marlborough player’s family

When the Grafton Gators face off against the Marlborough Panthers at home Friday night, “The Swamp” will, oddly enough, be cheering on the opponents’ senior captain.

Oh, they want Grafton High (3-0) to crush Marlborough High (3-0). Football, after all, is football.

But the family of Marlborough’s Cam Ginnetti was left reeling after Cam’s older brother, Hayden, suffered a serious spinal cord injury in a swimming accident. The UMass senior — and former Panthers quarterback — has undergone two surgeries and faces a long rehabilitation process.

A Go Fund Me has been set up for the family to assist with medical expenses, and Grafton High students started a donation collection. Grafton Athletic Director Kevin Anderson announced Thursday that all proceeds from Friday night’s game will also be donated to the family’s Go Fund Me.
