Dog Mayor field expands to 21 — will your buddy be joining them?

And then, there were 21.

With seven more dogs now raising their paws in the race for Grafton Dog Mayor, the field has expanded to 20 Very Good Dogs with platforms that include demands for snuggles, suggestions for potty bag stations, and confessions of past sins… like eating an entire rotisserie chicken when the owners weren’t looking.

With dogs this cute, how DARE the owners take their eyes off them?

Grafton, the choice is going to be hard, and it’s only going to get harder. The deadline for nomination submissions is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28. Email a photo of your dog to jennifer@graftoncommon.com, its name (and yours!), and tell us why they should be Grafton Dog Mayor.

Voting will be held here at Grafton Common, with no limits on votes, starting Tuesday evening. The polls will close on July 2. The top three dogs will then go before a panel of judges on July 3.

The contest, sponsored by the Grafton 4th of July Parade Committee, will select the town’s top dog, an honor that comes with an array of prizes — including Dog Tag #1 during the next registration!

ll nominees are invited to strut their stuff at the 4th of July Parade, when the Dog Mayor will be formally unveiled!

The parade starts at the North Street Elementary School at 10 a.m. and marches down to Grafton Common.
