Walmart delivery costs Grafton Common a section of fence

The ongoing renovation of Grafton Common took another hit Thursday.

Literally.

At around noon, the driver of a Walmart tractor-trailer truck made the unlikely decision to turn onto Church Street from South Street, taking out a portion of the fence and concrete posts before getting stuck. The cost to repair the damage is unknown.

Grafton Common, the town’s centerpieces, has been undergoing a historic restoration, brick walkways, new benches, and grass, as well as removing and replacing unhealthy trees. The bandstand/gazebo will also undergo a renovation, adding an accessible ramp.

Back in October 2021, a car accident took out one of the newly installed lit archways, along with another section of fence. Those repairs are still incomplete.
