Video: Duran prepares for battle on ‘The Voice’ Monday

Getting on “The Voice” was just the first hurdle for Grafton’s Ricky Duran.

Now, he has to do battle to stay there.

Duran, who chose to join Blake Shelton’s team on the NBC singing program after all four judges “turned their chairs” during his audition, will face off against Marina Chello as the pair sing “Valerie” during Monday night’s show.

“The Voice” posted the video in advance on YouTube, without revealing Shelton’s ultimate choice between his two proteges. Both judges John Legend and Gwen Stefani praised Duran’s unique voice, while Kelly Clarkson leaned toward Chello.

That’s not the only excitement for Duran this week. Worcester Red Sox President Dr. Charles Steinberg offered to have Duran sing the National Anthem at Polar Park in 2021.

Sadly for Grafton residents, who need to attend Town Meeting on Monday (you ARE going to Town Meeting, aren’t you?), “The Voice airs at 9 p.m. Set your DVRs.
