Upcoming Grafton library session focuses on food sensitivities

As part of its commitment to providing on-going educational resources for the residents in and around Grafton, the newly renovated Grafton Public Library has invited local Grafton holistic health coach, Deborah Genovesi, FDN-P, CHHC, to give a presentation called “Are Food Sensitivities Causing Your Fatigue & Weight Loss Resistance?”

The session will be held at the Grafton Public Library, 35 Grafton Common, on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. in Community Room A/B and is free and open to the public. Register by June 14 at www.graftonlibrary.org/events

“Part of our vision for the recent library renovation was to better serve the people of Grafton, and surrounding areas, as a hub for information exchange and a community gathering place,” Library Director Beth Schreiber said. “Deborah’s health talk about food sensitivities is a perfect fit. Food sensitivities may be more common than you think, and changing what you eat may have a profound impact.”

Deborah Genovesi, FDN-P, CHHC, a triple-certified Holistic Health Coach added, “If you try to eat a healthy diet, yet you’re always exhausted and unable to lose weight, certain foods may be the culprit. I’m going to cover which specific foods may be contributing to your exhaustion and causing you to hang on to excess weight, and more important, how to easily replace them in your diet.”

In addition to being a trained and triple-certified holistic health coach, Genovesi speaks from experience. She went from 70 lbs. overweight, wracked with pain and essentially bed-ridden ten years ago to about 90% symptom-free today. A major part of her health transformation was lifestyle changes to her diet, which previously had included several “healthy” foods that she was unknowingly sensitive to.

The presentation will cover:

  • Food allergy vs food sensitivity
  • Why certain foods can block weight loss and keep you tired and cranky, regardless of how many calories you eat
  • The most common food culprits
  • How to determine if you truly have a food sensitivity
  • Offending foods to eliminate now, and easy substitutes to eat instead

If you’ve ever wondered whether you may be having a reaction to specific foods and how that affects your energy levels, your weight and your overall health, this will be of special interest.
