This summer, Apple Tree Arts programs are on the move — sometimes outdoors
This summer, Apple Tree Arts will be out and about in Grafton, bringing their performing arts programs to life in creative new ways in locations including Norcross Park, Mill Villages, Grafton High School, and, of course, the Great Hall at One Grafton Common, restrictions allowing.
Have you been searching for the perfect summer program for your curious and creative elementary-aged child? The one who sings in the car, dances in puddles, and uses your kitchen utensils for their one-person band? Send them on a musical adventure this summer at Around the World in 5 Days, where their creative energies will be put to good use. Through dance, song, rhythm games, instrument exploration, and more, children will travel through Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, learning about music and about other cultures along the way. The Explorers session for students entering grades K-2 runs 9 am–noon, July 12–16. Voyagers, for grades 3-5, runs 9 am–2 pm, August 2-6.
Students entering grades 1 and 2 are invited to “Down by the Bay: A Musical Seaside Adventure” held at the Willard House and Clock Museum. Students will work on their acting, singing, and dancing skills through beach- and ocean-themed skits, songs, dances, and activities, which will culminate in a variety show performance for family and friends. Half-day program runs July 19-23 from 9 am-noon.
Based on the hit Disney Channel movies, two bands battle it out in a rockin’ summer they will never forget in “Camp Rock: The Musical.” This two-week musical program for students entering grades 3-7 will be offered twice: once July 6-16 and then again July 19-30. Both sessions meet 9 am-2 pm at Mill Villages Park and Pavilion in South Grafton.
One-on-one instrumental and voice lessons are available for all ages. With over 20 professional instructors, Apple Tree Arts offers customized, engaging, high-quality instruction on piano, violin, voice, guitar, songwriting, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, ukulele, bass, music theory, and percussion. New students may register at any time. Contact the ATA office at 508-839-4286 to schedule lesson dates and times.
Rogers and Hammerstein’s classic musical “Cinderella” will be performed by teens entering grades 8-12 on Friday, August 13, at 7 pm. This program is currently full, but spots may be opened to additional students if pandemic restrictions loosen this summer. Interested students may join the waitlist at appletreearts.org/summer-programs-2021.
