State grant will pay for new DPW dump truck

A state grant is paying for 80 percent of a new dump truck for the DPW, which will also serve as a salter and sander and have an attachable plow.

The $182,040 grant is part of the VW Settlement Open Solicitation Initiative, which has awarded $7.5 million in grants for 98 projects throughout the state.

The new vehicle was scheduled to be replaced as part of the Fiscal Year 2021 Capital Improvemet Plan.

The six-wheel truck will replace an existing 16-year-old truck, seen in the photo above.
