Silver Lake Beach opens Saturday — with restrictions

Silver Lake Beach opens for the summer on Saturday, but there’s a small hitch: both showers and hot food at the snack bar will be unavailable due to well water on the site failing to pass inspection.

That does not, however, affect the lake water.

“Due to our annual well water test not meeting (Board of Health) criteria, bathrooms/showers will be closed and the snack bar will be unable to serve hot food for the next week or so,” Recreation Director Jen Andersen wrote in an email. “Portable toilets will be on site. The water will be treated and retested and we hope to be back to 100 percent operational for next weekend, if not by Monday June 27.”

Beach operations will run June 18-August 14, weather permitting, with a tentative schedule of Tuesday – Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Hours may be changed as needed based on staff availability.

Swimming is not allowed at Silver Lake when the beach is closed. Parking on Route 140 is prohibited at any time.

Season passes will need to be purchased in advance online HERE. Day pass purchases now require a one-time waiver to be completed HERE prior to purchasing a pass onsite.

Season Passes may be picked up at the beach during the beach hours of operation. Day passes are purchased onsite. An ID or utility bill is required for proof of residency.
