Reproductive Rights Vigil planned at Grafton Unitarian church

A Reproductive Rights Vigil is planned for Wednesday at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Grafton and Upton to decry the recent Supreme Court decision against a woman’s right to an abortion.

“This decision manifests the worst fears of those of us who have been working for decades to protect and affirm reproductive rights,” said Rev. Dr. Susan Frederick-Gray, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association. “The overwhelming majority of Unitarian Universalists (UUs) support keeping abortion legal in all or most cases. This is rooted in our Principles and our core religious beliefs that affirm gender equity. It also reflects a moral commitment to the idea that reproductive care is healthcare and is essential to the well-being of individuals and families.”

The vigil will be at 7 p.m. at the Grafton Common church.

“In our sanctuary we will be present to the pain and proclaim the role we will play in creating a courageous future,” the email blast from the church read.

Masks are required in the sanctuary and there will be congregational singing.
