Primary Day is Tuesday — polls open at 7 a.m.

If you haven’t already cast a mail-in or early ballot, Tuesday is the day when you can grab that “I voted” sticker in person.

Polls are open, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on September 1, for the state primary. The headline race here is between U.S. Sen. Edward Markey, who is being challenged by U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III for the Democratic nomination for Senate. On the Republican side, Shiva Ayyadurai and Kevin O’Connor are vying for the nomination.

Polling Locations

Precincts 1, 2, 3 are located at the Grafton Middle School (22 Providence Road)

Precincts 4 and 5 are located at Millbury Street Elementary School (105 Millbury Street)

Masks must be worn and social distancing will be enforced. After signing in, you must specify a Democratic or Republican candidates (there are no candidates on the Libertarian or Green-Rainbow ballots for the primary).

On the Democratic ballot:

  • Incumbent Sen. Edward Markey faces a challenge from U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III for Senate
  • U.S. Rep. James McGovern has no opposition as he seeks re-election to Congress
  • Paul DePaulo and Padraic Rafferty face off for Governor’s Council
  • State Sen. Michael Moore has no opposition for State Senate
  • There are no candidates for state representative
  • John Dolan III and Kasia Wennerberg are running for register of probate

On the Republican ballot:

  • Shiva Ayyadurai and Kevin O’Connor are vying for the nomination as the candidate for Senate
  • Tracy Lyn Louvvorn is running for Congress
  • There are no nominations for Governor’s Council or State Senate
  • State Rep. David Muradian is running for re-election
  • Stephanie Fattman is running for register of probate
