No April vacation for homebound Grafton students

Next week’s April vacation has been canceled for Grafton students, who will instead have a four day schedule of remote learning.

The School Committee voted Tuesday to modify the school calendar in light of the learning restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools were closed on March 16 and teachers since have used remote techniques to continue their students’ education.

Under the modified schedule, students will still have Monday, Patriots Day, off.

Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings said teachers were very supportive of the change.

The last day of school is now set for June 12. No decision has been made about when — or if  — students will return to their brick-and-mortar schools.
