Letters: Marr, Bram backed for School Committee

This is the second of two endorsement compilations for the May 17 Grafton Town Election. This section focuses on School Committee. Grafton Common is no longer accepting endorsements for this election.

Wilson: ‘Liora Bram represents everything I could ask for in a candidate’

I have followed the Grafton School Committee for a long time, from when my mother was chairman many moons ago, while my son Joey was in school, and now that my adopted son Charlie is in school.

Liora Bram represents everything I could ask for in a candidate. She is forthcoming, transparent, and honest. She is knowledgeable of the rules and regulations involved in making necessary changes and in providing our children the best education possible.

I worked with her briefly on SEPAC and can say she does her due diligence for sure-researching areas she may need more information on, communicating with parents, and addressing any and all concerns raised. Her platform represents everything I want for my son. I hope that inclusion, acceptance, growth, and transparency are important to all parents. If these are qualities you want in someone representing our children, please vote for Liora Bram on May 17.

Thank you,

Alison Wilson

Laura Often: Marr and Bram have show commitment to Grafton schools

I have served with Amy Marr for the past three years on the Grafton School Committee. During that time we have faced unprecedented circumstances from the COVID-19 pandemic. Amy has shown a commitment to doing what is best for all students even when it is not the most popular opinion. She comes to each meeting prepared and engaged. Before joining the School Committee, Amy was an active volunteer for the Grafton Schools. While I knew her from other volunteer organizations, I first worked with her on the later start time committee we had formed to evaluate later start times in Grafton. Amy joined that committee as a strong supporter of later start times (and still is). I watched her listen, offer creative solutions, evaluate the situation, and ultimately understand that unfortunately due to cost, we wouldn’t be able to implement what she wanted. Amy’s ability to listen, reflect, research, and make difficult decisions are traits that make her a valuable member of the school committee.

Liora Bram is a newcomer to the political scene, but not a newcomer to volunteering within the Grafton schools. As the former co-chair of Grafton’s Special Education Parent Advisory Council, she impressed me with her fierce advocacy for students, commitment to open communication and dedication to equity and inclusion of all students. She brings a unique perspective to the school committee and will be a valuable addition to help further our school district. She has spent this election season attending meetings, listening to the community, and getting to know the leadership team in Grafton. She is ready to lead on day one.

The pandemic has impacted our students in ways we never would have imagined three years ago. It is important to have members on the school committee that understand the emotional and academic challenges our students face and will work to continue to move our district ahead. It is necessary to value all learners and the uniqueness each student brings to our district. Amy and Liora will do that. Please join me in voting for Amy Marr and Liora Bram on May 17th

Laura Often
