Letter: Grafton Food Bank continues to provide support for people in need
As the demand for food during the COVID-19 crisis continues to rise, the Grafton Food Bank remains committed to our mission: “To provide support to those in need of food relief.”
Since the pandemic escalated in March 2020, the number of families we serve regularly has increased significantly. Currently, we are serving 140 families — 100 percent of whom are members of the Grafton community.
Due to COVID-19 and the closure of the Municipal Center, which houses the Food Bank, we have been unable to accept food donations. To offer support to our clients, the Food Bank has been mailing Stop & Shop grocery cards once a month to members/families who regularly use the Food Bank.
Additionally, our clients have benefitted from the generosity of the Grafton Public Schools, Houlden Farm and other area resources. The generosity of Grafton residents, businesses and friends has allowed us to offer this help to those in need during these challenging times.
In addition, our Food Bank team has been working diligently to find creative ways to fund these endeavors through grants and appeals to aid our cause.
We continue to accept monetary donations via PayPal on our website at www.graftonfoodbank.org or by check made payable to: Grafton Food Bank/Friends of Grafton, Inc. ~ P.O. Box 324 Grafton, MA 01519.
We are currently working on a plan, with guidance from the Board of Health and Town Administrator’s office, to restock and reopen the Food Bank for distributions in the future. Serving our community safely is our top priority during these uncertain times.
Thanks in advance for your continued support! We are truly grateful to the Grafton community for all that you do!
