Letter: Community Harvest Project seeks a few helping hands

What will you do this fall that will create lasting memories? Volunteering with Community Harvest Project is a great way to connect with others during a challenging time and can help with mental health. Add in the benefit of being outside on our beautiful farms and we are sure that you will get more than you give. This recent article highlights the benefits of volunteering.

We pride ourselves in providing support to the hunger relief community throughout Worcester County by donating hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to the community annually. In fact in the last five years we have donated over a million pounds to support those seeking hunger relief services. We have always been here to support underserved communities and now more than ever the community needs your support.

We do our work with the helping hands of thousands of volunteers in a typical year, and this year the challenge has been to keep up while our volunteer numbers are restricted by group gathering challenges. That does not change the fact that crops are still coming out of our fields at a breakneck pace. We need your help to keep this going at both of our locations, please help. We are seeking group volunteers of up to 30 for our Grafton farms and 25 at our Harvard orchard. From the end of August through a good portion of October there will be significant amounts of produce to process. Please consider coordinating and leading a group to help support your community, follow this link for more information or to request a date.
