Haze Cannabis enters Grafton’s marijuana race, acquires Resinate property

There’s a new player in Grafton’s marijuana market: Haze Cannabis has purchased 135 Westboro Road, hoping to succeed where its previous owner failed and open up a retail marijuana facility.

“The building is down to the studs right now,” owner Colonel Boothe told the Select Board Tuesday. “It’s in very poor condition.”

Boothe said he acquired the building, as well as the host community agreement for marijuana sales, from Resinate. He also wants to establish an HOA for manufacturing

“There’s a difference of opinion whether you can transfer a host community agreement,” Town Administrator Evan Brassard said. The Select Board asked him to negotiate the issue with Boothe.

Back in the spring, Town Meeting voted to increase the number of permitted marijuana retailers in town to three. Only one store, MJ’s Market, has cleared the hurdle, opening in October, while Discern’d Cannabis Purveyors, 130 and 134 Worcester Street, has seen its construction stall.

Jushi Holdings, which acquired Nature’s Remedy in the fall, has an undetermined timetable on when it might bring its planned Grafton grow facility online. It does not have plans for retail sales.

Boothe is the founder of Haze Cannabis and is in the process of securing dispensaries in South Boston and Douglas.

As for his plans for Grafton, Boothe hopes to get the building finished by early March.

“This isn’t cultivation,” Boothe said of the manufacturing plans. “We’ll be creating edibles and trans-dermal products.”
