Grafton Recreation: Playground ADA improvements start immediately

Just days after receiving CPC funding for ADA improvements to parks and playgrounds, the Grafton Recreation Department is getting to work to make play accessible.

Town Meeting on Saturday approved $210,000 in CPC funding for the town playgrounds and parks at Airport, Silver Lake, Ferry Street, Riverview, Norcross, and Perry. The town has already signed a $154,436.52 contract with Design Built, LLC.

Playgrounds will be closed over the next week or so, followed by he parks themselves, for construction. Ferry Street is scheduled for November 12, Riverview for November 13, and Norcross for November 17.

The parks and playgrounds will be upgraded with ADA accessible routes and surfacing. The changes came about after the failure of the Grafton Community Park, aka Super Park, an ambitious but expensive new park proposed for land behind the Grafton Public Library.

The Recreation Department will be posting upcoming closures on their Facebook page.
