This event was poorly organized, tables were too close together and children’s books and games were crammed into boxes on a table and on the ground. Few paid attention to distancing rules, and signs on the tables were small and difficult to read. We entered from the side and when asked if they could lift the barrier tape to allow us to walk on the pavement, we were told no. My friend walking with a cane had difficulty walking on the grass; fortunately she did not fall.

Two ladies over 70 disrespected at a public event on the Grafton Common.

Not strangers but members of the Nelson Library community.

      Hi Lydia,
Thank you for your constructive feedback on our first used book sale during this pandemic. I was the Friend member who greeted you around our checkout tent and redirected you along the grass to our one way entrance.  I am sorry about the confusion on the wording of our facebook post about our entrance and the feedback on our signage. Per the board of health we were given strict rules stating that our event was one way traffic only and we tried our best to mark off the correct pathway with our caution tape. We also had to limit the number of participants in our event to 10 with the exception of a small family/group and masks and hand sanitiser were required throughout our event. I know for this sale we set our tables well beyond the 6 foot spacing requirement and we used boxes to showcase our books to try and provide contactless browsing to limit how many items were touched. We are always open to additional suggestions for all our events at our monthly Friends meetings. Hope to see you at our Spring book sale!

      Sincerely,
       Stacie Herbert
