Early voting open for September primary — and don’t forget to register!

Absentee/Early Voting ballots are available for the September 6 State Primary Election. 

State law allows registered voters to vote by absentee ballot if they are absent from town during normal polling hours, physically disabled preventing the voter from going to the polling place, unable to come to the polls due to a religious belief. Mail-In Voting Ballots do not require a reason and can be requested by any voter. 

Voters must request their absentee ballot for the September 6 State Primary Election no later than 5 p.m. (appointments only made in advance after 1 p.m.) on Friday, September 2 . Mail-In Voting requests must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, August 29. 

Applications are available through the Town Clerk’s Office, Town of Grafton website at https://www.grafton-ma.gov/town-clerk/pages/voter-registration-absentee-voting, or can be downloaded from the State’s website at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/.

The last day to register to vote in the primary is Saturday, August 27. The Town Clerk’s office will hold registration hours that day from 8:30- 5 p.m. to register voters in person. 

If you plan to register by mail, your registration certificate must be postmarked by August 27t. 

Mail-in registration forms are available by emailing clerks@grafton-ma.gov or calling the Town Clerk’s office at 508-839-5335 ext. 1195 or on the Secretary of State website at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/. You can also register to vote online at www.registertovotema.com. 

If you registered to vote through the Registry of Motor Vehicles, a state agency, online or by mail and have not received an acknowledgement from the Town Clerk please call the Town Clerk’s office at 839-5335 ext.1195 immediately.
