Congregational Church adapts Apple Pie Social for the age of COVID-19
Socially distanced apple pie, anyone?
For 40 years, the Congregational Church of Grafton reserved September for apple pie, gathering together to peel piles of apples, roll out dough, and craft pie after pie and crumble after crumble for the Harvest Fair and Apple Pie Social on Grafton Common.
This year, like everything else in 2020, things will be a little bit different.
“Our Fair Committee made the difficult decision to make drastic changes to the festivities for the safety of everyone in our community,” the church committee wrote in a news release. “What didn’t change is our commitment to serving our town, and our commitment to serving our favorite food items to the people in it.”
On Saturday, September 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the church will host a yard sale of household items, books and toys in the church parking lot. Masks are required to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
But what about the pies?
Frozen apple pies, frozen chili, fresh chowder and shortbread cookies may also be ordered for pickup at the church on Sundays, September 27, October 4, and October 11, 2 to 4 p.m. Order from the menu here before 5 p.m. the preceding Thursday.
If you are unable to pick up your order on any of those dates, call Sue at 508-596-7366, or Joanne at 508-614-5309 to schedule an appointment.
All proceeds benefit the Congregational Church of Grafton, its ministry, and its mission.
