Avoid Main Street this week as road milling gets underway

Main Street is going to get a little bit more difficult to navigate this week as the next phase of the Route 122A Transportation Improvement Project begins.

Stretching from the Sutton Town Line to Providence Road, the two mile project consists of new sidewalks with improved handicap accessibility, new and reset granite curbing and a reconstructed/resurfaced roadway with bicycle accommodating shoulders.

What the translates to at this phase of the project: it’s a bit of a mess. The next phase, which starts Monday, will be grinding/milling the road surface.

The planned improvements to Main Street “will enhance and improve access to the three historical mill villages within South Grafton and support opportunities for economic development along the corridor,” according to the Grafton Planning Department.
