Apple Tree Arts brings ‘A Christmas Carol’ right to your home

Here’s something that won’t make you want to say “bah, humbug:” Apple Tree Arts is presenting a radio production of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale, “A Christmas Carol” this weekend.

The performances will be presented live on Facebook on Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12, at 7 p.m.

Directed by Matt Mariner and Lisa Scarlett, this online radio play contains both a visual and an audio component. The audience will have the option of experiencing this production in radio drama’s true form of audio-only or may choose to experience “storybook” style with vintage drawings that accompany the story as it is told by the actors. The production will also feature vintage ads created and performed by the adult actors as well as Victorian-era Christmas carols.

“We are excited to take this opportunity while we are physically apart to revisit the old-fashioned art-form of a radio drama, ” says Mariner. ”This art form brought relief to many during World War II, so it seems appropriate to reimagine the genre during another time of global crisis.”

The cast includes student performers Elena Baker, Charles Carpenter Simms, Caelan Laverty, Bexie Lubitz, Caitie Marr, Olivia Marrone, Cooper Often, Katie Perrotta, Andrew Smith, Megan Torres and adult performers Pranjali Brajare, Alan Baker, Paul Conway, Lizz Hillman, Teddy Kiritsy, Amy Marr, Laura Often, Noelle Scarlett and Elizabeth Spinney.
