Wouldn’t this money go to escheatment if not claimed? Then the state gets to post it on findmassmoney.com. That’s different than “say goodbye to your cash”. Some of those names should NOT be difficult for the Treasurer/Collector to follow-up on. Really? You can’t pay the Commonwealth of Massachusetts? Holden Landmark Corporation owns the Grafton News now…they should not be hard to find. Verizon? AA Transportation? Charter Communications? In my opinion, someone from that office should spend a couple of hours calling or emailing these people to get updated addresses or to tell them to come in to get their money.
