Obituary: Nancy Hazen, advocate for Grafton Food Bank, longtime Municipal Center employee

Nancy Hazen was the woman who got things done in the Grafton Municipal Center.

Hazen, 72, who worked as the administrative assistant to the Board of Selectmen for 34 years, died January 10 following complications from cancer.

She was a founding member of the Grafton Food Bank and the Friends of Grafton Elders (FOGE).

She leaves her loving husband of 52 years, Richard Hazen; her son Daniel Hazen and daughter-in-law Christine Hazen and their children Emily and Ethan; her brother Robert Tetrault and his wife Edna; her sister Deborah Talbot and several nieces and nephews. 

Halen was born February 8, 1948 in Northbridge, daughter of the late Lillian (Fournier) and Owen Tetrault. She grew up in Northbridge and settled in Grafton with her husband, Richard, where they lived for more than 50 years. 

Away from work she prized her summers in Dennisport on Cape Cod or tending to her gardens closer to home. 

All are welcome to gather with her family Thursday, January 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. 

Funeral services and burial will be private.
