With DCU Center now a pandemic hospital, Grafton High postpones prom

Grafton High School students received confirmation Tuesday of something they already expected: they will not be going to prom on May 4.

But there may still be a prom, Principal Jim Pignataro wrote in an email to students. When that might be remains up in the air.

Grafton High traditionally holds its prom at the DCU Center in Worcester. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has turned the venue into a field hospital for coronavirus patients.

The DCU Center has granted the school’s request for a refund.

Pignataro said several Fridays and Saturdays in May and June have been blocked off to hold the prom at Grafton High itself for juniors and seniors.
