LeClair recognized as top Grafton scholar
Matt LeClair decided to spend his senior year out of his comfort zone.
He’ll be on stage for the spring musical and he’s a drummer in the Grafton High School band despite being “not very musical at all.” He normally focuses on math and science classes, but this year jumped into creative writing.
“It’s these things outside the regular courses that have helped me grow as a student,” LeClair said.
Appearing before the School Committee Tuesday night was probably not in his comfort zone, but LeClair was there to receive an award after he was chosen as the Worcester County Superintendents’ Association Scholar Award recipient.
“He’s a wonderful representative of the Grafton School system,” Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings said.
LeClair is president of the GHS National Honor Society, a Renssalear Scholar, runs cross-country track and has aspirations of becoming an engineer.
We’re waiting to hear back from the colleges,” LeClair said. “I would love to go to MIT or Cornell, but we don’t know yet.”
