Will Grafton see two Melifonwu brothers in the NFL next year?
The next NFL season may have two Melifonwu brothers in play.
Obi Melifonwu (Grafton High 2012) is signing with the San Francisco 49ers and his brother, Ifeatu Melifonwu (GHS 2017) has declared for the NFL Draft.
Obi — the brother with a Super Bowl ring thanks to a stint with the New England Patriots, where he played two games — is a safety selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders after a legendary combine performance.
As a rookie, he appeared in only five games before a season-ending hip injury. Released before his second season, Obi was signed by the New England Patriots in November 2018 and, post-season, was signed to the practice squad before his release last April.
