Town accountant chosen as new Grafton schools director of finance
Town Accountant Anita Patel has been chosen to succeed Dan Gale as director of finance for the Grafton Public Schools.
Patel has served as town accountant since April 2016, after working as chief financial officer for the state Office Department of Veteran Services and chief financial officer for the Massachusetts State Treasury for eight years.
Gale is leaving June 30 for a finance position with the Hudson schools, and will be able to bring Patel up to speed before leaving, Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings told the School Committee Tuesday night. She was chosen from about 20 candidates.
Patel will be working on a transition plan with Town Administrator Tim McInerney.
