Thomas appointed new Select Board chairperson

For the third time this year, the Select Board reorganized itself, appointing member Jennifer Thomas as chairperson.

The shuffle at the top was prompted by last week’s election of Donna Stock, who will fill out the few months left on the term of former chairman Bruce Spinney, who resigned in August to pursue a marijuana business in Grafton. Spinney’s resignation brought about the last reorganization, when Ed Prisby took the chairman’s seat.

Both Prisby and Peter Carlson abstained from the vote, with Carlson noting the reorganization did not appear on the meeting agenda. Doreen DeFazio was appointed vice chairman.

Stock took over as Select Board member on the Disabilities Commission. This leaves a vacancy on the new commission, since Stock is a current three-year member and she is replacing DeFazio as the Select Board representative.
