There’s still time to get a citizen’s petition on the Town Meeting warrant

Grafton’s 2022 Annual Town Meeting is approaching, on May 9. In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 39, Section 10, the Select Board will be accepting citizen’s petitions from residents of the Town.

To insert an article in the Warrant for Town Meeting, registered voters of the town must complete a written request form and collect a specific number of signatures. Warrant Articles from citizen’s petitions require 10 signatures for placement on the Annual Town Meeting Warrant, and 100 signatures for placement on the Special Town Meeting Warrant. Completed forms must then be submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office for certification.

The Select Board will be accepting citizens’ petitions until the Close of Business on Friday, March 25, pursuant to Article 2, Section 2-8[c] of the Grafton General By-Laws.

Additional information on how to submit a citizen’s petitions, as well as blank petition forms, can be found at grafton-ma.gov/town-meeting-information.
