Students are counting down to Grafton’s last day of school Wednesday

The 2020-2021 school year finally comes to an end on Wednesday after a year students mostly spent in a hybrid format — one week learning remotely at home followed by one week in a classroom with socially distanced desks, mandatory masks, and a constant watch for fevers and coughing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students began their slow return in February starting with North and South Grafton elementary schools, North Street and Millbury Street elementary schools in March and April, Grafton Middle School in April, and Grafton High in May.

On Wednesday, Grafton Middle School eighth graders will participate in person in the annual Moving Up ceremony while their parents and relatives watch remotely.

Millbury Street Elementary School nurse Denise Mossey, who partnered with nurse Sharon Iaquinta to assist with the many tasks needed to keep students healthy — bandages, inhalers, allergies, medicines and more — is leaving the school after eight years.

North Street Elementary School fifth graders took a quick field trip to Grafton Common to close out the school week with a picnic.

South Grafton Elementary School students took to the field Friday with DanceFit, a dance marathon and fundraiser.

North Grafton Elementary School took to the outdoor for the annual field day.
