Stolen BMW leads Grafton police to suspects with key fobs for Porche, Lamborgini

A stolen BMW found abandoned on Worcester Street led Grafton Police to cache of key fobs linked to a break-in at a Boston car dealership.

The investigation began Tuesday, when Sgt. Liam O’Rourke discovered a black BMW that appeared to be abandoned near the Mass Pike overpass at about 4:35 a.m. The BMW was found to be stolen out of New York City and originally reported stolen from Shrewsbury.

O’Rourke ordered additional units to check the surrounding area for possible suspects who abandoned the vehicle. A short time later, Officer David Spellman observed two men running on Worcester Street near Bridge Street, a short distance away from where the BMW was found.

Spellman stopped the subjects to speak with them. Both subjects were evasive when questioned and Officers Joe Coggans and Jensen Plotkin arrived to assist with the inquiry.

During the investigation, Spellman found one of the subjects in possession of a BMW key fob as well as a key fob for a Lamborghini. Both subjects were subsequently transported to the police station for further investigation where it was found that they had given false names when originally questioned.

Further investigation also revealed that the subjects had been in possession of several other key fobs for other BMW, Porsche and Lamborghini vehicles. Evidence was found linking the key fobs (10 total) to a car dealership in Boston that had been broken into the previous night.

Shrewsbury, Boston and New York City Police Departments were contacted and are working with Grafton Police in this investigation, which may involve additional jurisdictions.

Moustapha Sene, age 19, of Brooklyn, NY was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $1200 and Providing False ID Information to Law Enforcement. The second subject, later found to be a juvenile also from Brooklyn, NY, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $1200, Receiving Stolen Property Under $1200, Providing False ID Information to Law Enforcement, Possession of Burglarious Instruments and being a Fugitive from Justice (NY).

Sene was later transported to Westboro District Court and the juvenile was transported to Worcester Juvenile Court.
