South Grafton Principal Parker announces retirement

South Grafton Elementary School Principal Doreen Parker is retiring at the end of the year after more than 30 years in the Grafton Public Schools.

“Over the past 37 years, Mrs. Parker has had a tremendous impact on thousands of children,” Superintendent of Schools Jay Cummings said. “Many of the parents and staff who she works with now were former students of hers. Mrs. Parker has built an incredibly successful career on her ability to collaborate with her colleagues, connect with students and families, to foster growth and development in all, and to create learning environments that are positive, supportive, and enriching.”

Parker began her career in Grafton as an elementary teacher, staying in the classroom for 18 years.

Parker moved on to be an assistant principal at Grafton Elementary School and four years later,  in 2006, she was appointed principal at South Grafton Elementary School.

“Mrs. Parker’s love for learning, creativity, and passion for teaching make her a great educator,” Cummings said.
