Select Board appoints committees, evicts Thomas from CPC

After a lengthy process involving candidate interviews for 15 boards, the Select Board filled open seats and evicted a couple of incumbents with very little discussion.

The move which drew the most surprise on social media after Tuesday night’s meeting: Richard Whitney was appointed to the Community Preservation Committee over former Select Board member Jennifer Thomas, a long time CPC member. Incumbent member Paul Scarlett was reappointed.

Also approved for appointment:

Conservation Commission — Betsy Doherty

Affordable Housing Trust — Current members Daniel Cusher, Elisabeth Hayes and Eric Swenson were reappointed over applicants Elizabeth Gilgun, Robert Polsinelli (who withdrew), Elizabeh Dorherty and Alex Zakeria.

Disability Commission — Current member Kristie Proctor was reappointed. With recent member Jennifer Pearson withdrawing because she moved out of town, Robert Poiinelli was appointed.

Information Technology Committee — Robert Carroll was reappointed, newcomer Alan Baker was chosen.

Zoning Board of Appeals — After some confusion over the appointment process used by the ZBA, which traditionally chooses membership from its alternates, Marianne Desrosiers, Brian Waller and William Yeomans were reappointed.

Board of Cemetery Commissioners — John Pocius was reappointed.

Board of Health — Karen Gwozdowski and Austin Magnant were reappointed; Jennifer Maynard was appointed to the position formerly held Josh Briggs, who chose not to continue.

Cable TV Oversight — Reappointed were Robert Berger, Robert DeToma, Jim Gallagher, Robert Hassinger, John Kelley, Lisa Kelley and Corson Wyman.

Constable — Reappointed were Donald Booth, Roger Currier, Marianne Devries, Cynthia Ide, John Manzi, Stephanie Rose Flemming.

Grafton Historic Commission — John Stephens was reappointed. One opening remains after the resignation of Bruce Teixeira.

Grafton Historic District — John Stephens, William Nicholson, Paul Scarlett were reappointed; new members include Elizabeth Gilgun and Pan Du.

Grafton Cultural Council —Julie Grace and Meta Mitchell were reappointed; Pan Du is the new member.

Lake Quinsigamond Commission — William Nelson was reappointed.

Trustees of Soldiers Memorials — William Drago was appointed.
