Reporter’s Notebook: Fundraiser to help Harrington family; A change in GHS grades
Don’t forget: make room for pizza on Saturday!
Grafton resident Todd Harrington will be bringing his Anzio’s Brick Oven Pizza food truck to the GCTV parking lot on Saturday, January 15, noon to 4 p.m. and offering single-serving pizzas in exchange for donations of cash or gift cards for the family of retired Grafton Police Sgt. John Harrington, who were forced out of their home by an electrical fire Christmas night.
Food cost and labor will be covered by both Anzio’s owner Harrington (no relation to Sgt. Harrington) and state Rep. David Muradian, with all proceeds going to the family.

Grafton High School is considering a change to how it handles grades throughout the year — rather than continue with report cards four times a year, the school would change to a two semester system.
Principal Kevin Carney explained that faculty and staff has discussed the change for the 2022-2023 school year. Grade reporting periods would change from quarterly to two semester. Formal progress reports occur at day 45 of each semester and final grades close at day 90 for semester 1 and day 180 for semester 2.
“This is an opportunity to better prepare our students for college readiness where most higher education institutions are structured on a semester-based schedule,” Carney wrote in an email to parents. “In fact, 85 percent of GHS students continue their education at colleges and universities after graduation. Since GHS only runs semester and full year courses, it makes sense to put forth this consideration to the superintendent and School Committee in February as part of the Program of Studies review.”
