Recent high school grads sought for Walsh Memorial Scholarship

Metropolitan Removal Company has announced two $100 scholarships for college students, named the Edward M. and Mary M. Walsh Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is named in memory of MRC founder Edward Walsh, and his wife, Mary. 

“We want to do something that both helps out the local community and honors my parents,” said Michael Walsh, owner of MRC. “In these tough times, these two scholarships will be a big help to students who want to continue their education in college.” 

Students who live in Bellingham, Blackstone, Franklin, Grafton, Hopedale, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Millville, Norfolk, North Attleboro, Plainville, Upton, Uxbridge, Walpole, and Wrentham are eligible for the Edward M. and Mary M. Walsh Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must submit a scholarship application (available by emailing kwhittaker@metroremoval.com), a high school transcript, proof of attending college this fall, and attach a 500-word essay dealing with one of the following two questions: 

  • Why is it important to support local businesses? 
  • Why is it important to give back to your community? 

Students must submit their application and materials by Friday, July 31 to kwhittaker@metroremoval.com. The winners will be announced no later than August 15.
