Meekins heads to Northborough for assistant TA job
When Rebecca Meekins gave only a five-day notice when she resigned as Grafton’s assistant town administrator Monday, many people questioned the short notice.
The answer lies about 20 minutes away in the town of Northborough, where Meekins will start her new job as assistant town administrator on October 5. Her final day in Grafton was Friday.
Northborough Town Administrator John Coderre announced Meekins’ hiring Monday night to the town’s Board of Selectmen.
“Many of the skills set and responsibilities with budgeting, special projects, procurement, insurance, and HR are very similar to the responsibilities to the assistant position here,” Coderre was quoted in the Community Advocate. “It was a long process to ensure we had a good fit, and Rebecca was the unanimous recommendation of the screening committee. I’m really happy with the outcome.”
Meekins, who started her career as an intern for former Town Administrator Tim McInerney, returning to the town in 2016 as his assistant. Although she expressed interest in becoming Grafton’s interim town administrator following McInerney’s departure, the Select Board ultimately opted to search for a more seasoned professional.
Good luck, Becca. Northboroughs’ gain is Graftons’ loss. You will be missed as will Tim.
