McGoldrick chosen as Grafton town planner

Chris McGoldrick, who has served as Shewsbury assistant town planner for the past three years, was tapped as Grafton’s next town planner by the Select Board Tuesday.

McGoldrick will replace Joseph Laydon, who left Grafton to become Littleton’s assistant town administrator.

A graduate of UMass Amherst, McGoldrick has worked to create a Shewsbury downtown association and maintains lists of developable lots and vacant spaces in town to suggest to interested companies.

McGoldrick said he is intrigued by the proposed North Grafton Transit Village, which he said could bring in shopping and residential options currently not available in town.

A contract is under negotiation.
