Letter: Eight former selectmen endorse Stock, Thomas
Dear Residents of Grafton,
We are supporting Jennifer Thomas and Donna Stock in their re-election bids for the Grafton Select Board in the Town Election on June 23rd. When making decisions we feel that members of the Select Board require the ability to work collaboratively with all Town Officers both Elected and Appointed and to be mindful and respectful of all residents. We have always had, and still have the best interest of the Town of Grafton as our primary focus, and we believe that Jennifer Thomas and Donna Stock do too.
The Town of Grafton has seen explosive growth in the past 25 years and we had the privilege to serve the Town of Grafton during this time. We, along with many other volunteer Boards and Committee Members, oversaw the management of the often tumultuous results of the explosive growth. Together with the residents of the town and our Town Meeting votes, we made significant decisions which positioned our Town to offer those looking to move to this area a great option.
We saw the commuter rail come to Grafton, the creation of the CenTech Park, the purchase of lands to preserve open space, infrastructure works, two new school buildings, a new Police Station, a new Fire Station, a new DPW Facility and we will soon have a new library. Many of these decisions raised our taxes but they also significantly increased the values of our real estate investments.
We acknowledge the sacrifices made by the many town residents whose families have lived in Grafton for 3-4 generations, and we also acknowledge the contributions of the many families who are first generation Grafton residents, who embraced their community and worked so hard to achieve so much.There are undoubtedly very challenging times ahead of us. We will continue to need steady and collaborative leadership as we face these challenges.Please join us in voting to return Jennifer Thomas and Donna Stock to the Select Board on Tuesday, June 23rd.
