Letter: Apple Tree Arts offers online learning during COVID-19
As in many other parts of the country, Massachusetts residents are staying-at-home until medical and government officials flatten the COVID-19 curve in our state. We care about you and have come up with several opportunities to help our communities (in Massachusetts and beyond) cope with the anxiety and uncertainty that you might experience over the next few weeks. These plans will also ensure that we keep our staff and faculty employed.
Our staff and instructors have quickly stepped up to bring you virtual learning opportunities. One-on-one instrumental and voice lessons are now available online using Zoom for current and new students. Group classes including Mixed Age Move & Groove for ages 1-4, KiddyKeys for ages 3-5, and Keyboard Magic for ages 6-9 (current students only) are available, too.
The Theatre Arts department is providing twice weekly online group rehearsals for “Willy Wonka Kids” actors and offering online options to Performance Troupe students. After weeks of rehearsals, Willy Wonka (scheduled to open last weekend) had to be put on hold. We hope you will support us by watching clips of group rehearsals and actors rehearsing at home on social media as we continue to prepare for a performance.
Please share videos with us that show you creating and/or enjoying the arts while you are sheltering at home. Share your movies on social media with the hashtags: #ATACreativeLearning and #ArtsConnect and email them to us, too, at creativelearning@appletreearts.org.
Check our social media daily for updates on additional online/remote opportunities that will keep you busy singing, playing, and acting. If you have ideas or programs you would like to see us roll out, let us know by emailing info@appletreearts.org.
Apple Tree Arts is committed to bringing high-quality music and theatre arts education to people of all ages, identities, and abilities in central Massachusetts and around the country.
