‘Let It Be:’ Grafton’s Ricky Duran heads to ‘The Voice’ Final Four

Top Four.

Grafton’s own Ricky Duran is headed to “The Voice” finals next week after he was revealed Tuesday to be the third member of the Final Four.

He’s nearing the end of a journey that began at Grafton High School and the Berklee College of Music to clubs around Worcester to Austin, Tx. and the televised NBC contest.

Duran has been a favorite from the start, earning a four-chair turn by all four judges before choosing country singer Blake Shelton as his mentor. Over the show’s run, praise for Duran has never been less than effusive, and he has never had to perform in the results shows to retain his spot.

In Monday’s show, Duran performed The Beatles’ “Let It Be,” starting on piano before taking a stroll amongst the background chorus, climbing on a platform and performing a guitar solo.

“You know, the one thing that I asked of you this week in the rehearsals was, ‘Man, if there’s anything that you’ve got left in the gas tank vocally that we haven’t seen yet, right now is the time.’” Shelton enthused. “Dude, you just gave the vocal performance of your life, no question about it.”

“The Voice” returns Monday on NBC, 8 p.m.
