Kalinowski named Grafton’s principal assessor
Tammy Kalinowski has spent 17 years in the Grafton Assessor’s department, serving as its office manager until Tuesday night.
Now you can call the 21-year town employee the principal assessor.
After three months of interviews with multiple candidates, Kalinowski “was far and away the most qualified candidate,” Town Administrator Evan Brassard told the Select Board.
Kalinowski replaces Mary Oliver, who resigned in the fall.
“I couldn’t be happier to see one of our own, who got her certification” while working in the department, Select Board Chair Peter Carlson said.
Kalinowski has also served as the president of the Grafton Municipal Employee’s Association, which recently finalized its expired contract with the town. The Select Board also on Tuesday signed that document, which gives wage increases of 2 percent retroactive to July 1, 2020; a 2 percent raise effective as of July 1, 2021, and a 2 percent raise effective as of July 1, 2022.
Brassard noted that the contract will be the final one Kalinowski will have to negotiate for GMEA.
“She’s come from the union side over to the dark side with the rest of us,” Brassard joked.
