Grafton’s Kaillio earns spot in Worcester State Chorale

Worcester State University’s Visual and Performing Arts Department has announced that Grafton native and Elementary Education major Juliana Kalliio ’25 has been accepted into the Alto section of the Worcester State University Chorale, an a cappella group that has performed in Worcester and toured internationally to share members’ professional sound, enhance the student experience and engage with alumni.

“We’re so pleased to have Juliana join us this semester, a meaningful and exciting time as Chorale members return to rehearsing together in person again,” said Worcester State University Chorale Director Dr. Christie Nigro. “For voice students here and across the world, the opportunity to sing with others in the same space and time is an intrinsic part of life. We look forward to a semester that pairs those in-person moments with innovative access for online audiences.”

In March, the Chorale is scheduled to present a live virtual show in partnership with the Worcester State Alumni office. In a typical year, the group performs a variety of a cappella styles, with singers touring internationally every two years. Previous tours have brought students to Scotland, Ireland, Portugal, Italy and Greece.
