Grafton man killed in Shrewsbury crash
A 21-year-old North Grafton man died early Saturday morning after his car crashed into Shrewsbury’s Jordan Pond and flipped onto its roof.
Shrewsbury Police identified the man as Deven Jared Koenig, according to WCVB-TV.
Koenig’s car had flipped over onto its roof and was partially submerged in approximately 4 feet of water around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Firefighters in cold water rescue suits attempted to pull the trapped occupant from the vehicle, but officials said they were unable to open the doors due to the vehicle’s positioning. Koenig was removed by the car by the Jaws of Life after it was removed from the water, but he later died at UMass Medical Center.
The crash is under investigation by Shrewsbury Police and the Worcester County District Attorney’s office.
