Grafton Common protest call: ‘Defund the police’
One day after July 4, a group of Grafton protesters called for another kind of independence — freedom from police violence.
“Defund the police” has become one of the rallying cries for the Black Lives Matter movement, and it was the theme for a small protest on Grafton Common Sunday. It doesn’t necessarily mean disbanding all police departments — here’s an explainer — but rather reallocating funds to other areas to prevent crime.
The protest was considerably smaller than Grafton’s previous rallies.
