Don’t take a dip in Silver Lake just yet
It’s hot.
It’s “school is canceled early on Monday and Tuesday because the temperatures inside are over 90” hot. It’s “am I breathing air or eating humidity hot.”
It is not, however, hot enough to swim at Silver Lake Beach just yet, Grafton Recreation warns.
“We know it’s hot and Silver Lake will be opening for the season soon but please keep in mind swimming is currently not allowed, the water is not being tested, parking is prohibited along Rt. 140, and DPW is there working with machinery to get the beach ready,” the department posted on Facebook. “So we ask that you please adhere to the posted rules and stay safe! Opening day is June 26 and more info will be coming out this week about the summer at the beach!”
Silver Lake was chemically treated on June 3 to control the growth of nuisance water plants.
The Recreation Commission has not set the rates for beach use this summer. The dock will not be in place this year due to a lifeguard shortage.
